CREATIVE students at the Winsford Academy took part in a design competition to find an official logo for their eco-schools project.

The academy has teamed up with Asda for the scheme: an international programme of sustainable education that supports pupils’ work on environmental topics, allowing them to learn about sustainability via practical activities.

Future projects will include formulating eco-friendly practices at the academy, enabling the school to apply for bronze, silver and gold awards in recognition of their green credentials.

Arty entries to the contest were displayed in the Asda supermarket foyer in Winsford, before town mayor, clr Gina Lewis, selected 12-year-old Hannah Woods as the winner.

Hannah was presented with a certificate of achievement for her creative design by the mayor and a £25 gift card from Asda.
