POLICE in Winsford are appealing for information after a child’s grave was targeted by thieves for the second time.

Four figurines have been stolen from the infant’s resting place in Swanlow Park Cemetery, Swanlow Lane, at some point between the evening of Saturday, July 19 and the evening of Tuesday, July 22.

Police said it was the second occasion offenders had targeted the particular grave.

Investigating officer, PC Danielle Knox, said: “At this early stage in the investigation it is not known why the grave has been targeted or why figurines have been taken on two occasions.

“I am appealing for anyone in the local community who may have any knowledge about the incident to come forward.

“These crimes have greatly affected the family involved and any information would be much appreciated.”

The first figure taken is described as a wooden, carved figure of a mother and child and was replaced following a previous theft.

Three other figurines stolen are described as small angel-type figurines, silver in colour, that were left on the grave by family and friends.

Anyone with information should call Cheshire Police on the non-emergency number, 101, quoting incident number 1015 of 22/07/2014.
