BOOK worms from schools across Cheshire attended an annual awards show in Winsford.
More than 150 students attended this year’s Cheshire Schools Book Award celebration evening.
The Cheshire Schools Book Award is an annual award by The Education Library Service that encourages students to read some of the latest teenage fiction and vote for their favourite book.
This year’s event was held at the Winsford Academy.
Sally Green, author of the fantasy novel Half Bad, was in attendance to take home the prestigious award.
A spokesman for the Winsford Academy said: “Authors Sally Green and Curtis Jobling attended the evening, talking about their books and answering questions from students.
“The winner of the Cheshire Schools Book Award was also announced – congratulations to Sally Green.
“The Academy would like to thank all who attended and made the evening a success. We will look forward to next year’s Book Award.”
The other shortlisted books were Stay Where You Are and Then Leave by John Boyne, Haunt: Dead Scared by Curtis Jobling, More Than This by Patrick Ness, A Boy Called Hope by Lara Williamson, Noble Conflict by Malorie Blackman and The Wall by William Sutcliffe.
