A WINSFORD special school will come together for their final centenary event of the end of the First World War for 2015. 

Hebden Green School in Winsford, will celebrate Warfare and Peace on Monday July 13.

A group of teachers will work with post-16 pupils to lead activities throughout the day, with the theme being.

The activities will include an art activity featuring the dove, a universal symbol of peace.

A spokesman for Hebden Green said: “Pupils of all ages, aged 2-19, will work together to produce a piece of artwork for the Winsford Salt Fair.

“The design and technology activity will be making catapults and thinking about trajectory in battle.

“To enhance this experience, we are asking for pupils and staff to come into school dressed in red, white or blue, the colours of the Union Jack.”

Weather dependant, there will also be a sports themed activity outside.

There will be a science activity which is currently under development and a performing arts activity linked to wartime poetry run in the school’s Immersive Space.

The school’s catering company will provide a special wartime themed buffet lunch that weather permitting will be eaten outside.

Afterwards the pupils will have the opportunity to participate in wartime related lunchtime activities.
