A NEW study is now underway that could help create thousands of jobs in Winsford.

The study is being carried out by BE Group and will look at how to make the most of land allocated for employment at the Winsford Industrial Estate.

Winsford Industrial Estate was the country’s first Business Improvement District and has more than 3,000 people working within its business community.

The estate is home to household names such as Henkel, Jiffy Packaging, Iveco, Finnings Cat, Venture Photography, Advanced Medical Solutions and Tiger Trailers.

Council bossed hope to draw in a number of ‘world class’ businesses to the site, which is allocated in the Winsford Neighbourhood Plan, which could also pave the way for improved road links into the town.

Nicola Dufty, chairman of the Mid Cheshire Development Board, said: “Winsford Industrial Estate is the jewel in Mid Cheshire’s crown and this study will ensure that as the estate grows, we continue to attract even more great businesses to the area.

“It will also help strengthen our case for improvements to road and rail links which are needed to ensure we maximise the potential of the estate.”

Alan Warburton, Winsford’s Town Council clerk, added: “This study is being carried out as a direct result of our town’s Neighbourhood Plan and will help ensure we remain on the map as a major employment centre.”

As part of the study, BE Group will also contact local businesses, land agents and interested parties to look at growth opportunities for the future.

Cheshire West and Chester and Winsford Town councillor, Brian Clarke, said: “This is a really exciting time for our town.

“The study’s findings will be used to shape the industrial estate’s future and be used to attract more investment to our area.”
