THE magical world of Roald Dahl were brought to life at a Winsford primary school.

The children of St Chad’s CE Primary School took part in a Roald Dahl Day, which took place on Friday, September 18, to mark the famous British author’s birthday and to celebrate his work.

Children and staff dressed up as characters from Dahl’s works and took part in lots of exciting and engaging activities based on the fascinating world of Dahl.

The youngsters concocted some revolting recipes and marvellous medicines and even made their own enormous crocodiles.

Natalie Hughes, deputy head teacher, said: “Roald Dahl day was a huge success.

“The children had a fantastic time immersing themselves in the engaging and inspiring world of Roald Dahl.

“They had the opportunity to really celebrate and enjoy Dahl books and had gone to huge effort to dress as their favourite characters.”

As well as all the fun-filled activities, the children took part in a whole array of work from all areas of the curriculum including letters, poems, art work and maths.

Hannah Morley, Year 1 teacher, said: “The day was absolutely fantastic. It was great to see the children’s genuine enthusiasm and love for an author rather than just a franchise.

“Children were able to share their favourite books and facts about Roald Dahl himself which inspired those around them. One girl in my class asked if I had any yellow paper to write like Roald Dahl.”
