A POLICE drugs bust in Winsford found up to £20,000 worth of cannabis plants.

A 53-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday, November 11, after police carried out a drugs search warrant at an address in Leyland Walk.

Police found 20 large, fully grown cannabis plants being cultivated inside the property, with a street value of up to £1,000 per plant.

Insp Dave Snasdell, from Cheshire Police, said: “This recovery is large enough to have put someone out of business and has helped to tackle drug crime in the area.

“Members of the public ring us up with intelligence through crimestoppers or 101 and we follow it up with surveillance. I’d encourage anyone with any suspicions to get in touch and help us carry out more successful drugs searches like this one.”

The man arrested has been given bail until December 9 while the enquiry is concluded.

Police also recovered approximately £100 worth of cannabis plant at an address in Hill Street in Winsford, on Saturday, November 14.

A 35-year-old occupant of the house has been interviewed regarding the drugs and has been reported for summons for possession.
