A JUNIOR football club is holding a family fun-day in Winsford to celebrate its 25th year anniversary.

The charity event will be held Winsford Cricket Club from 1pm on Sunday, May 1.

The football club are looking to raise money for the Leighton Hospital Prostate Cancer Awareness Support Group, which is run by Gary Steele.

Tony Mitchell, Winsford Over 3 Athletic JFC club secretary, said: “We would like to pay tribute to Gary for his amazing work and fantastic support he gives to all sorts of organisations like ourselves.

“It’s true to say that if you can’t be inspired by his courage and the way he fights, then you’re in the wrong place, as to many he is a real inspiration and I’m eternally grateful to him.”

Former player and officials are welcome to come along and be part of Sunday’s celebrations.

Tony said: “Please come along and support the day as we are hoping that the community can come together and be part of something special.

“Winsford Over 3 JFC has been a big part of young peoples’ lives past and present and it would be superb to see some old faces from the past.

“Let us all get together and help Gary Steele’s fantastic charity and have a great day.”
