WINSFORD MP Antoinette Sandbach has hailed an increase in ‘available jobs’ in the town following record-breaking national jobs figures released last week.
Figures released on Thursday, August 18, show that 184,000 people are in work across the north west than in 2010 and that 2.7 million more people are working nationwide since then.
In Antoinette’s constituency Eddisbury, in which Winsford lies, the number of people claiming out-of-work benefits has fallen by 859 - a 63 per cent drop – since 2010.
Antoinette said: “Today’s figures show that employment is growing across all the regions and nations of the United Kingdom as we build a Britain that works for everyone not just the privileged few. I am conscious though that there is still a lot to do and we must not be complacent.
“I’m pleased to see more jobs available locally and good opportunities being advertised in Winsford in particular to recruit new apprentices.
“Whilst this recent news is encouraging I am determined to see this trend continue. I have also asked the council to prepare a bid for a future Enterprise Zone for Winsford to stimulate local employment opportunities.”
