STUDENTS at Mid Cheshire College Winsford campus will be working from their very own hair and beauty salon after the new facility was opened at the weekend.

The new hair and beauty training salon, named Escape, was opened by Winsford Town Mayor Cllr Steve Smith, at the college’s Winsford campus in Weaver Street on Saturday, September 17.

This came after beauty students gave feedback to the college asking for the course to be moved from Hartford to the Winsford campus.

For the first time students will be able to work together in a salon environment that combines the two key areas that will broaden their employability.

Kate Williams, interim director of quality and curriculum, said: “The decision to move beauty to Winsford came after student consultation. Students told us they were keen to work in a purpose built salon that would further help their employability.

“We are fortunate we have been able to respond to the request in time to welcome this year’s students. We are very excited about the prospect of expanding the offer at the Winsford campus.”

Winsford residents are invited to support the students by booking appointments for one of the many treatments available.

After officially opening the new salon, town mayor, Cllr Steve Smith said he was happy to see the course moved to the Winsford campus.

Cllr Smith said: “As a Winsfordian, born and bred, I am delighted to see more opportunities return to the Winsford campus.”
