A RESTORED brine pump site in Middlewich is opening to the public next weekend, telling the 2,000-year story of the salt industry in Cheshire.
Murgatroyd’s Brine Pump Works will be open for free to the general public on June 10 and 11, from midday until 4pm.
Run by the Middlewich Heritage Trust, the brine pump site offers the chance to learn more about the town's unique industrial history and geology.
The visitor centre is located on Brooks Lane and the car park is by the entrance gates.

A spokesperson said: “We’re more than an industrial heritage site, our story spans 2,000 years of the salt industry in central Cheshire, we discover why our area has been so important through the ages, and why Middlewich still is on an important road of discovery.
“We have tours on site, displays, handling items, activities, and interpretation panels with some amazing images.
“As we are approaching the longest day of the year, our site is rewilding at an accelerating pace, making us a special wildlife site within the town.”
