WINSFORD Tennis Club will be represented again in the South and Mid Cheshire Summer League’s top flight from next season.

The men’s A team made sure of back-to-back promotions as champions following a 4-4 draw at Hartford F last Tuesday.

Steve Abbiss, Mark Garratt, Alex Lerczak and Simon Nuttall were on court at the Northwich club, where the visitors collected the point they needed to finish first in Division Two.

They will conclude a successful season when relegated Cuddington A visit Knights Grange tomorrow, Thursday.

Winsford B had to win their final fixture, at Cuddington C after the Guardian went to press yesterday, Tuesday, to secure promotion from Division Four.

They won 6½-1½ against Holmes Chapel B in the latest round to stay a point clear of third-placed Tarporley B.

Mark Abbiss, Damian Cookson, Chris Mayoh and Martin Stoilov made up Winsford’s quartet last week.

Already certain of finishing inside the top two, Winsford C remain in a race to be promoted as champions from Division Five.

A 6-2 win against Congleton F at Knights Grange on Thursday, when Steve Abbiss, Bill Lawrie, Steve McCormick and Chris Mundie were on duty, kept them ahead of second-placed Nantwich D – for now.

The title rivals both return to action tomorrow, Thursday, when Winsford C visit Goostrey B and Nantwich D host Bunbury.

Winsford’s newly-formed mixed team, leading the way in Division Two after winning seven of their nine matches to date, return to action this Sunday.

Closest rivals Tarporley are their hosts.

The club continues practice sessions for seniors every Monday at Knights Grange, from 6pm.
